Tough 28 | 28 Days. Your Word Or Your Excuses.
Your confidence
isn't missing
Your evidence is

Quitting on yourself has been free. This is where that ends.

One clear line. £97. No negotiation.

I'll Be Back

The problem with being the machine is everyone keeps giving you more to carry

Surely we all wanted to be Arnie when we were growing up.

Not the political Arnold or the cigar and climate conference Arnie. I mean proper Arnie.

The size. The calm. The certainty. The way he walked into chaos like chaos had better start explaining itself.

We thought, aye, I'll have some of that. For a while we had just enough. Shape, confidence, swagger, a sense the world was still ours for the taking.

Then life, being the sneaky little bastard it is, started sending Sarah and John Connor into the picture.

The woman to love with kids to keep alive and a house that somehow needs money thrown at it every time you blink. A job that does not care whether the nervous system is offline.

We take the hits, keep moving. Bit by bit, the human covering starts showing the signs.

Then one day we catch ourselves in the mirror and there's a flash of, fucking hell, when did I start looking like the deleted scenes?

Still, we move.

Of course we do.

Sarah still needs us.

John still needs us.

The mission is still live.

But when our basic programming starts to fail, when we can see that the people around us have less faith in us than they used to, and worse than that, when we no longer fully believe what we say either, that's when the music starts to play and the molten steel ending begins for men.

Nothing left to give but a fake thumbs up to signal everything is ok while we keep slipping into lesser versions of ourselves.

No control.

No self-trust.

No confidence.

All of it in the bin.

At some point, the thing doing all the protecting has to be protected too.

We keep telling ourselves, "I'll be back." At some point. But when?

This is where we begin
The wrong scoreboard

What you actually walk out with

Let's deal with the thing you came for, because I'm not going to insult you by pretending you didn't.

You want leaner. Stronger. Lighter. The gut gone.

Course you do. So how many runs at that have you busted a gut for already? Too many to count. You and every other man in here.

We've made the six pack and the lean physique the pinnacle of health, fitness and pure sex on legs. The truth is, it's not.

You might've heard me bang this drum in Relighting The Fire. Good. I'll keep banging it until the day you actually believe it.

Over twenty years of coaching and I have never once pleased a client. Not one. By the time a man gets where he swore he wanted to be, he wants something else. Bigger shoulders. Bigger arms. Leaner still. The finish line moves the day you cross it.

Does it not make sense then that we've been aiming at the wrong transformation all along?

What turns heads more than anything is true confidence. Belief in yourself. A man who trusts his own word.

Guess what the byproducts are of rebuilding those pillars of character? Yup, the lean, athletic figure you think you want.

Once your confidence portfolio is rebuilt and you remember what self-worth feels like, you will not give a shit about body fat or six packs anymore.

You'll have them. You just won't need them.

So let me tell you what confidence actually is

It isn't a feeling you summon in the mirror before a big day. It isn't a podcast, a cold shower, or a man on a stage telling you to crush it and it isn't a fleeting poxy feeling like motivation.

Confidence is evidence.

It is part of your inner fabric, so when it has been stripped away from you, because your word folds easier than a broken deckchair, people know it, but worse than that, you know it.

It is built on the quiet running total of the times you told yourself you'd do something, and then you did it.

You used to carry a thick stack of that proof. Then you spent years saying you would… but you didn't. Every broken promise to yourself has been a withdrawal, and the account has run dry.

You do not need to feel better about yourself. You need to build the evidence.

The negotiation

"You're always negotiating with yourself, and you need to stop that negotiation."

Tim Wilkinson
The voice on your shoulder

Then there's the Whisperer

The Whisperer absolutely loves a flat tyre, misery loves company after all.

One mocha choca locha latte coffee you said you wouldn't have, because you spent more on coffee last year than on the wife's birthday and Christmas present combined.

One biscuit at eleven in the morning, because one suped up mocha choca locha latte coffee means biscuit. Well, one biscuit is the story we go with, but the truth is it was half a packet of hobnobs.

One drink, because the day has been rough and it's Tuesday so I deserve it, but of course, with us men being the way we are, it's never just the one…

The Whisperer leans in to tell you the day is already fucked, so you may as well slash the other three tyres, get an onion bhaji, Chicken Dhansak, nut pilau rice, Peshwari naan, cucumber raitha and an unreasonably large bar of galaxy.

Nevermind, he says, as the food baby kicks air out your backside, we try again Monday.

A man who's been good for a fortnight is never more than one slightly burnt piece of toast away from an all out binge that an all inclusive holiday regular with their own cup would be proud of.

The Whisperer isn't trying to kill you, he's just afraid. He's afraid of the work he'll have to do to become that guy, so he does whatever he can to keep you comfortable.

Comfortable is just the scenic route to the bottom.

You will not out argue it. You beat it by taking the negotiation off the table entirely.

The constant abuse stops

"Biggest thing's been in my own head. Before it was constant abuse. Calling myself a fat cunt and then backing it up by eating like one. Just sabotaging myself for the sake of it. Now it's calmer. I'm not deliberately fucking myself over with food all the time. I actually pause and think instead of just going 'ah well' and going all in."

What Tough 28 is

A line in the sand

No grey.

No wriggle room.

One thing has never changed. A man does not need more information. He's drowning in information. He needs a line he cannot negotiate his way around.

Grey area is the escape hatch left open for a quick exit. "I'll start Monday." "I'll go when work calms down." "I'll do it tomorrow." Grey area is where the Whisperer lives, and it's where every soft plan you've ever made crawled off to die.

Tough 28 welds it shut.

For 28 days the day gets stripped back and run tight.

Clear.

You did or you didn't. Binary.

There's no story to tell yourself of mostly and nearly and I would have ifs. There's no debate to have over the bread basket, the line is drawn and you can see it from where you're standing.

This is the hammer. It is an intervention to stop the 247th Monday in a row that the spark didn't get the fire burning.

It is not gentle and it is not clever.

It's 28 days of doing what you said you'd do until your own word starts carrying weight with you again.

The real cost is that every day you leave it, the gap between the man you could be and the man you've settled for opens another notch. The hammer is the thing that stops it widening. Then it starts to close it.

What this actually is

Why me, and not the other forty million things trying to get your attention?

You already know that something has to change. You'd not have read this far otherwise. So I'm not going to waste your time selling you a problem you live with every single day.

The only real question you've got is why this and not the overpriced bootcamp down the road, or the app, or the lad in the car park? Definitely not another year of paying a membership to a building you visit twice.

Two reasons.

One. Everyone else is selling you the body. I'm not.

The number was never the problem and the body was never the prize. What went missing was control, your word, the man underneath. Sort that and the body comes free with it, and this time it stays. That isn't a better version of what they sell. It's a different thing entirely, and once you've heard it you can't unhear it.

Two. This is built so that quitting has to be a decision, not a drift.

Here's your actual fear, and I'll say it out loud so you don't have to. It was never whether this works. It's whether you will. You've started before. You've drifted off before, quietly, somewhere around week two, when nobody was watching.

So I've taken that away from you. A binary line you can't reason your way around. An email that lands the evening before and names the exact excuse the Whisperer's got lined up for the morning, before he opens his mouth. A tracker on the fridge in ink, where the people you made the promises for walk past it every day.

Not finishing is still allowed. It just has to be a thing you choose, out loud, with all of that sitting right there in front of you. We both know that's a very different proposition to an app with a little streak that fires a cartoon flame at you every morning, right up until the day you ignore it, after which it never mentions the matter again, like a mate who has quietly decided not to make it weird.

That's why me. Not because I shout loudest. Because I'm the only one in your ear not selling you the thing that's already failed you.

What you're actually building

The email lands every evening without fail and names the exact piece of nonsense The Whisperer is about to try on you the following day.

The men in the Clubhouse have all stood where you're standing, plenty of them somewhere inside their own 28 days right now, and the tracker on your fridge is telling your house the truth every night whether you feel like it or not.

The part nobody prints in the brochure is this. The training is just the laboratory.

The workout is the easiest part of the practise of doing what you said you'd do, because the thinking has been done for you. Press play, follow the day, done.

What you're actually building is follow through, and follow through doesn't care where you built it. It follows you out the door.

You point it at the finances you've been avoiding opening, the patience you ran out of with the kids, the marriage that's gone a bit quiet, every room in the house you've been keeping the door shut on.

Control is the win. Control is the one nobody talks about. Restoring it is the single biggest thing a man can do for himself, for his family, and for his future.

There is no scale on earth that weighs any of that.

The honest part

This is proven
The only question is whether you are

I'll be straight, because the men who do this deserve straight.

The system is not the variable. It has worked for every kind of man who has walked through that door and actually done the work. The structure does its job every single time.

The variable is you. The one thing that decides how the next 28 days go is whether or not you become that man, a man who keeps his word.

That shouldn't put you off. You aren't feeling what he feels yet, but you will. Until then you get to put the weight down from your shoulder and lean on the system, lean on the men inside, and lean on me.

That should be the most hopeful thing you read today, so I'll repeat it… You get to put the weight down.

Why me

I'm not here to turn you into someone else

I know this pattern because I've lived it, and I've had to claw my own way back from it more than once.

There have been long stretches where the world got my best and the people at home got whatever was left in the bottom of the tank.

I didn't read about the drift. I lived in it more often than I'd like but I study the pain and the problem and have an uncanny ability to apply what I learn until the next mountain comes along. I've watched what fixes it and what doesn't and I'll tell you this for free…

It isn't motivation.

It's never motivation.

The man you're looking for isn't gone. He's buried under too many years of soft standards and promises you stopped bothering to keep to yourself.

No victim story here. We all have shit to deal with behind closed doors. You will hear me say often:

"Lean into the struggle because on the other side of struggle lies strength."

This is the work I still come back to myself, and often. I'm not handing you something I finished years ago and walked away from with a clipboard.

So after an ebb I'll be doing it alongside you, facing the same way, fighting the same fight to get back to flow. I'll do it again and again and again, because life is tough so we have to get tougher.

The work itself is simple, because simple is the only thing that survives a bad week. The difficulty comes in the consistency, and it won't come as a shock to you that we have that taken care of for you also.

How it works

What the next 28 days actually look like

01
Press Play
Three full systems. Bodyweight, kettlebell or gym. Home, garage, park or gym floor, the day is built and waiting. You press play, it tells you what to do, you do it.
02
One Clear Line
Binary rules, marked honest. You did it or you didn't. No story, nowhere to slip out through.
03
In Your Pocket
The whole system on your phone. No guesswork, no working it out, nowhere for an excuse to hide in the confusion.
04
The Evening Email
Lands the evening before, names tomorrow's likely nonsense, and kills the excuse before you've finished making it. Not a reminder. A man in your corner.
The room

The men doing it with you

This is who actually shows up. Ordinary men, every age and shape and starting point, walking the same road from garages, spare rooms and gym floors in different time zones, each man on his own day of it. No judgement. The ego gets left at the door. Post your score, read the room, and watch how many of them sound exactly like you did the week you started.

"You're a clean page." That's how one of them put it. That's what a kept day feels like.

Food, stress, me time

"Before working with Paul, I was extremely overweight and constantly tired all the time. The main thing I was struggling with was control of what I was eating and when I ate, and the amount I ate. Once I started following the structure I'm sleeping and eating better. I'm definitely less stressed now in real life and also at work. It only takes max two snooze alarms to get up now rather than several or turning it off altogether. This work gives a man back his me time. His own personal private space to think what he wants to think, forget about life."

Nick Thornton
Be honest with yourself

This works
But do you?

This is for you if

  • You're a capable man with responsibility on your shoulders. Usually 35 or over, but the age isn't the thing.
  • You perform for everyone else, and you've quietly been letting yourself down where nobody's looking.
  • The man in the mirror isn't the man you had in mind.
  • You don't need another idea. You need a line you can't wriggle around.

This is not for you if

  • You want to feel motivated for an afternoon and change nothing.
  • You want it easy, and you want it to feel nice the whole way through.
  • You've already decided 28 days isn't enough, and used that as your reason to do nothing for the last three years.
  • You're not actually going to press play.

If that second list is you, then keep a hold of your £97 and read the daily emails for a while.

No hard feelings.

The door will still be here when you are ready.

The offer
You get

The complete Tough 28 course and the evening email engine. The seven rules, the food system, the nightly scorecard, and the emails that land every evening and frame the next day before the Whisperer gets a word in.

The three training systems. Bodyweight, kettlebell and gym. Full four week programmes for all three, so a sick kid, a work grenade or a night away never costs you a clean day. The old "week's ruined" collapse is designed out before it can start.

The Proving Ground Tracker. Print it, fridge, ink only. The score the whole house can see.

The Clubhouse. The room where the men are, with the twenty eight day lads in their own corner of it. An online tribe away from the prying judgemental eyes that is your facebook or instagram feed.

BonusFork In, Easy! Ten breakfasts, ten lunches, ten dinners, so the food never gets boring enough to beat you or decision fatigue to blind you.

Every line above is in. Not a taster, not a teaser, the whole thing.

Nothing has been held back in a box marked week three, to be sold to you later at the exact moment you need it.

What happens when a man runs it again on his own

Round two has a coffee in it, because he has earned that.

A night off, because he is not a monk.

A slightly generous read of what counts as done.

Same name on the top of it, different animal entirely, and he sits there at the end wondering why it did not land the way the first one did.

I have watched men do that for over twenty years and I have been that man myself more than once, which is how I know exactly how reasonable every one of those allowances feels at the moment you are making it.

So there is a second thing on this pathway and it is called The Contract. Eight weeks, side rails up, a weekly call, the standard held for you instead of by you. Like the bumpers they drop in the gutters at the bowling alley, you carry on doing what you have been doing and it keeps landing in the ballpark of complete.

It is £597.

You are not being asked about it today and it gets no second mention on this page. The number is in front of you because you should know what the guided version of your own word goes for, before you sit there deciding whether ninety seven quid is a lot of money.

Tough 28 is £97

One payment. No subscription.

£97 is deliberate. Cheap enough that you don't need a committee meeting with your wallet. Dear enough that you'll pay attention, because skin in the game is half the machine.

Which works out at about three and a half quid a day. I'll let you decide whether the Whisperer's coffee round can compete with that.

The price is the price. I don't do discounts, the same way I don't do grey areas.
