Rebuild Confidence | Restore Control | Rebuild Self Trust

Your confidence isn't missing.
Your evidence is.

For the capable man who has slipped, and knows his own word has started to mean less.

Recognition

You have got very good at looking fine.

You are the joker. The reliable one. The friend who turns up, sorts it, carries it, and never asks for anything back. You learned a long time ago not to let people see the rest, so you built the masks, and you wear them well. Well enough that nobody has noticed.

Here is the part you have not said out loud to anyone.

You feel it worst in your own home. The place you should be most yourself is the place you perform the hardest. Your wife has slowly become your housemate. You are polite, you are functional, you sort the bins and the boiler and the school run. But the man she actually fell for, the one who was present, has been fading out for a while, and you both feel it even if neither of you says it.

You have started avoiding your own eyes in the mirror. Not dramatically. Just a glance you cut short.

The cracks are showing. Not to them. To you. And it is getting harder to plaster over.

How it happened

Nobody decided this. It just drifted.

There was no single day it went wrong. That is what makes it so hard to fight. It came in concessions. The session skipped because you were shattered. The early night that became another two hours on the phone. The promise made in January and quietly dropped by February. Each one reasonable on its own. Each one a small withdrawal from the same account.

And you have tried to turn it around. Of course you have. You are not lazy, you are tired.

The membership you took out in the new year and used four times. The app with the streak you were proud of until you broke it and never opened it again. The 5am alarm that lasted nine days. The diet that always starts on a Monday. The stack of books you read a third of. The podcast phase.

None of it stuck. And every time it didn't, the voice on your shoulder got louder and more convincing. The one that says you have had a hard day, you have earned a break, you will sort it properly next week.

You believed it. Because you were tired. And next week never came.

The wrong scoreboard

You have been keeping score on the wrong number.

Here is why none of it held. You were chasing the wrong thing.

You went after the weight, the waistline, the figure in the bank, the body on the beach. The scoreboard everyone else can see. So when the scales did not move fast enough, or it got hard on the third day, there was nothing underneath holding you up. You quit, and you called yourself weak.

You were not weak. You were building on sand.

What actually went missing does not show up on any scale. It is three things. Confidence. Control. Self trust. You lost them so slowly you never clocked them going, and you cannot buy them back with a meal plan or a motivational reel.

That is the higher work. The work nobody sells you, because it does not photograph well. And it is the exact work that, once you start doing it, makes every other goal you have ever chased finally start to stick.

What confidence actually is

So let me tell you what confidence actually is.

It is not a feeling you summon in the mirror. It is not a podcast or a pep talk. Confidence is evidence. It is the quiet running total of the times you told yourself you would do something, and then you did it.

You used to carry a thick stack of that proof. Then you spent years saying you would and not, and every broken promise to yourself was a withdrawal, until the account ran dry. That is why you do not back yourself any more. Not because something is wrong with you. Because the evidence stopped coming in.

And it costs you everywhere. The short fuse with the kids over nothing. The decision that should take a second and now sits in your head for a day. The reason you give the world your best all day and have nothing left for the people you love at night.

You do not need to feel better about yourself. You need to change the evidence. It is the only thing that has ever rebuilt a man.

What Tough 28 is

A clear line in the sand. No grey. No wriggle room.

I have coached men for 22 years, and one thing has never changed. A man does not need more information. He needs a line he cannot negotiate his way around.

A grey area is the equivalent of leaving the escape hatch open for a quick exit. "I'll start Monday." "I'll go when work calms down." "I'll do it tomorrow." Grey area is the home of the drift, and it is where every soft plan you have ever made went to die.

Tough 28 welds it shut. For 28 days the day gets stripped back and run tight. Clear rules. Binary. You did it or you did not, and you mark it honestly. No story to tell yourself, no negotiation to have, because the line is drawn and you can see it.

This is the hammer. It is not gentle and it is not clever. It is 28 days of doing what you said you would do, in a room, alongside men doing the same, until your own word starts to mean something to you again.

The honest part

This is proven. The only question is whether you are.

I will be straight, because the men who do this deserve straight. The system is not the variable. It has worked for every kind of man who has walked through that door and actually done the work. The structure does its job every single time.

The variable is you. The one thing that decides how the next 28 days go is whether you become, for four weeks, a man who keeps his word. That is the whole game.

That should not scare you off. It should be the most hopeful thing you read today. It means the result was never about talent or genetics or some willpower you were not born with. It is about turning up and doing the simple thing you said you would. And that, you can do.

Why we start small

We start small on purpose.

You will want to go to war with yourself on day one. Do not. That is the same spike of panic that has burned you every January, and it collapses by the first hard Thursday without fail.

We do the opposite. We start small enough that you cannot fail, because the job of week one is not transformation. It is evidence. One kept promise. Then another. We rebuild the stack from the bottom, one honest tick at a time.

One week of that would not be enough. It would feel good and fade. Twenty eight days is long enough to lay real proof down, and short enough that the lazy part of your brain cannot talk you out of it. It is not the finish line. It is the start of the only work that lasts, done properly so it actually carries on after the four weeks are up.

Why me

I am not shouting down from a mountain.

I know this slide because I have been on it. Four kids, self employed since I was 22, a stress response that has involved far too much wine, and long stretches where the world got my best and the people at home got what was left. I did not read about the drift. I lived in it.

This is work I come back to myself, often. I am not handing you something I finished years ago and walked away from. I am doing it again, and I am asking you to do it alongside me, facing the same way, fighting the same fight.

Accept the invite to a proven solution, or do not. You see how binary keeps it simple.

How it works

What the next 28 days actually look like.

Five mornings a week. Coached, in person, at Tough Love Gym up at Percy Park in Tynemouth. Four weeks. A slot that fits your day.

Live and coached, on purpose. You cannot negotiate with an empty spot that other men can see. Training alone is where the quiet deals get made. In the room, they cannot.

The course in your pocket. Everything you need to run the day, on your phone, so there is no guesswork and no excuse hiding in confusion.

The email at 6pm. It lands the evening before, so your morning does not begin on a six inch screen. The phone is a window into other people's problems. These 28 days are yours.

Every one of those choices exists for a single reason. To make doing what you said you would do the easy path, and talking yourself out of it the hard one.

The room

The hardest lift is the one through the door.

No actors. No stock photos. This is who actually shows up. Ordinary men, every age and shape and starting point, who decided the morning was worth getting up for. No egos, no posing, no one watching how little you lift. Just blokes who turned up.

No Egos. Just Men Who Turned Up

You always think you'll be the unfit one blowing out your backside while everyone else knows what they're doing. To be fair, I'm usually the one blowing. But that's the point.

No judgement, no egos, just turn up and get stuck in.

— Dan Mole

You Are Not
Too Old For This

At 63 I'd no interest in any of this. My sons can't believe the change in me.

I can pick up my grandchildren without fear of ricking my back. Someone said I look younger. No one has ever said that about me before.

— Dave Massey, 63

You Don't Have
To Be A Gym Guy

I don't do gyms, I can't design a plan.

Being able to just come in, get it done and go home has honestly been a revelation.

I'm almost pushing 50 and probably the fittest I've been in 20 years.

— Chris Ince

Walking In Is
The Hard Bit

I get anxious about starting new things with new people, but it didn't feel weird at all.

Sound group of lads, no egos.

You can just crack on and no one's judging.

— Paul Maskey

In their own words

Hear It From The Men Themselves

Bill · portrait

"You get your self respect back. All the things you loved when you were younger but thought you were beyond as you got older. You're not. Don't let the old man in."

— Bill

Nathan · portrait

"I was on a bit of a self destruct. Drinking a lot, eating plates of food, no direction. I'm fifty one now. It's never too late, there's always a route back."

— Nathan

JC · portrait

"You think it's going to take six months, a year. But that time's going to pass anyway. So just make a start, and see where it goes."

— JC

Tim · portrait

"You're always negotiating with yourself, and half the time you don't even notice. Once I started, that spread past the gym into everything. I make conscious choices now."

— Tim

David Hope · the full conversation

"What this gives a man back is control. I'd let myself go and got stuck in a rut. It gave me back my confidence to move, to get stronger, to get over injuries."

— David Hope, father of three

Read this before you buy

This is for you if

You are capable. You have been letting yourself down in private while you hold it together in public. And you are done collecting advice and want a line you cannot wriggle around.

This is not for you if

You want to feel motivated for an afternoon and change nothing. You want it easy. You have already decided 28 days is not enough and used that as your reason to do nothing. Or you are not actually going to turn up.

If that second list is you, keep your £375 and read the daily emails for a while. The room will still be here when you are ready.

The offer

Tough 28. £375. Starts Friday 26 June.

Let me deal with the number honestly, because you are weighing it against everything else going up right now, and you should.

You can find a 28 day challenge online for £99. You can buy an ebook for a fiver. I am not going to pretend those do not exist. I am going to tell you why they are a different thing entirely.

Those are information. You already have information. Your phone is full of it and it has changed nothing, because a PDF cannot see you skip. What you are buying here is the opposite. A room, a coach who knows your name, men who notice your empty spot, and four weeks of being witnessed keeping your word. That is not a dearer version of the cheap thing. It is the thing the cheap thing only pretends to be.

£375 across four weeks of coached mornings is a few pounds a session. Now set it against the real number. Another year as a stranger in your own house. Another twelve months of cutting your eyes away from the mirror. The drift is not free. It is the most expensive thing you own. You are just paying for it quietly.

The price is on this page on purpose. No discovery call, no "book a chat" so I can talk you into it. That would be grey area, and grey area is the exact thing this whole programme exists to kill. Here is the line. Here is the cost. Here is the date.

Start Your 28 Days

IF TODAY ISN'T THE DAY, GET ON THE EMAILS INSTEAD.

It costs nothing. It’s not a newsletter. It’s not weekly wellbeing tips. It’s not coaching disguised as content.

It’s a piece of writing most days, and never just to fill space. For men who are tired of being lied to about how this gets fixed.

Some men buy Relighting The Fire after three days on the email. Some after three months. Some never buy anything and just take what’s useful.

Read if for free. Decide later.

One field. No ‘first name’. No ‘how did you hear about us’. Just in.

The close
Two kinds of men book this. One files it under Monday. One turns up.

The first will pay the £375 and quietly talk themselves out of showing up before the first Friday. The other will turn up at 6am, do the first session badly, and start the slow work of becoming a man who shows up. You already know which you have been lately. The next 28 days are how you find out which one you actually are.

The man you used to be, the one who was present, the one your wife actually misses, is not gone. He is buried under a stack of broken promises. You do not dig him out with a feeling. You dig him out with evidence, one kept word at a time, starting Friday 26 June.
